The Old Testament prophet Daniel tells us that in the middle of a 7-year period known as the Tribulation, temple sacrifices will be forced to end. At this time the Antichrist will place an image of himself in the temple and will declare that he is God. Daniel calls this the abomination that causes desolation and it will also be when the Antichrist’s identity will be revealed.

Daniel 9:27 NIV 

He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven’. In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation…

In the next passage, Daniel also says that after this abomination that causes desolation and the time of distress that follows, those whose names are written in the "book" will be raised from the grave to everlasting life. The book that Daniel speaks about is the book of life that is written about many times in the Book of Revelation. This book of life has within it the names of everyone who will receive eternal life. Therefore, Daniel 12:1-2 is saying that the resurrection for all dead believers will occur after the 7-year Tribulation (time of distress) that is recorded in the Book of Revelation. 

Daniel 11:31 and 12:1-2 NIV 

“His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation. …“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life…

The Apostle Paul tells us that those who are alive when Jesus returns will, along with the dead that are spoken of in the previous passage, join Him in the air to receive eternal life.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 NIV

...we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Therefore, we can now see that after the mid-point of the Tribulation when the Antichrist is revealed, a time of distress will occur that will be greater than any before. Then Jesus will return to raise the dead and gather the living in the air to give them their everlasting life. Of course, this "time of distress" that Daniel speaks about is the same period that Jesus called great tribulation in Matthew 24. This means that Daniel, Jesus, and the Apostle Paul all say that Jesus will return for both dead and living believers after the Tribulation that is written about in the Book of Revelation.

Yet, Luke 21:25-28 says that when you see the signs in the sun, moon and stars, look up for your redemption draws near. This one verse contradicts and invalidates their claim that Jesus will return without warning.

Another point they make is that when Jesus returns for believers, it will be a secret event that will only be visible to those included in the rapture. On the contrary, Matthew 24:30 joins other verses that say everyone on earth will witness Jesus’ return for believers at the post-tribulation Harvest.
